It is pivotal that the Lord reveal Himself and this phrase is synonomous to the previous one "who hath believed our report?"(those to whom God's arm had been revealed) <br /> When God reveals His 'arm', people believe-the blinders fall off. If Jn. 5:40 is the death knell to Calvinism, then Jn. 12:40 is the death knell to Arminianism. <br /> Secondly, a few verses ahead(v.38) talks of "ye have not His word abiding in you"-one must conclude that having His word in you is essential to that faith.
